ZenendipityRelax Into Creative DiscoveryMaking time for inspiration and play is one of the keys to letting go of stress and worry. Zenendipity [zen-en-di-pi-ty] is my creative business of graphic design, art events, classes, and pattern design. What does "Zenendipity" mean? It's a combination of the words zen and serendipity. I find some people don't even know what the word serendipity means, so here's a definition: "the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way."
Everyone has a license to create. You may think you aren't creative, but the truth is, every human has this desire, whether it's writing, cooking, pottery, painting, drawing, making jewelry, mosaicking, woodworking, sewing, knitting...the list is endless! If you allow yourself to relax, that is, don't stress or worry about perfection, you open your mind to ideas and sparks of inspiration. Zenendipity reminds me to relax, and enjoy making art, even though it may come out the way I initially planned, I find that I create things that are unexpected. When I begin drawing, I allow the chance marks on the page, or the paint brush on the canvas, to develop into a creation that most often develops into a motif, either into small parts I like and reuse in a bigger design, or a complete design that fills the page! |

Surface design is any type of artwork (pattern, illustration, hand lettering, fiber arts, etc.) made by a designer that is intended to be applied to a surface to enhance its visual appearance. Motif Monkey is my label for the designs I create. It's very relaxing to play with line, shapes, and color and see where it leads!
