Mixed Media Work by Peggy Markham

I've been designing and painting since 2013. Pretty new at all this creative stuff! Most of what you'll see here are works I created just for fun, or sometimes, for other people. Some could be done in a group painting setting, but many of these took more than 2.5 to 3 hours to do. A lot longer than a group painting session. No matter what, good work takes time...and patience!

Breaking Free

This is a combination of watercolor, acrylic ink, and pigment ink markers by Zig. Really fun to use different media.

Busy Ladybugs, acrylic

I painted these ladybugs for my daughter's room. She's in her 20's now, and I'll never sell this one!

The Happy Flower, acrylic

Another version of "The Happy Flower" I'll be doing for a Paint & Nibble in October. September's event was cancelled because of hurricane Florence!

It's Been a Wet Summer, acrylic

The Summer of 2018 was really wet in Virginia! I finally got down to business and started painting sunflowers in August. I painted the blue background on this one during the heavy rains of hurricane Michael.

Tuscan Tree, acrylic

Can you find the hidden bird? It's not where you think it is.

Bee Happy With a Friend, acrylic

Another painting I did for Heather's room. I'd like to frame these in a nice white frame.

Walking by Moonlight

Walking at night with a bright moon gives me a eerie, yet calm feeling. My dad loved to sit outside especially if there was a moon out.

Cougar

This piece is a watercolor and was the first watercolor I had ever done. It was quite a challenge, but I learned a lot.

Country Church

Watercolor. I was inspired by a church painted in watercolor that I saw in a book on how to paint in watercolor. I added the rest of the scene.

Back from a Row. watercolor

Watercolor. This came out of the book by Terry Harrison. A good book that shows you steps on how to paint in watercolor. The book contains tracings, but I just drew it by hand.

Winter Peace

Watercolor. (unframed, as you can tell!) This is another composition that came out of the book by Terry Harrison. Again, I just drew it by hand.

Summertime Stroll, acrylic on acrylic paper

(12x12 on acrylic paper) As a kid, I used to love to walk or ride my bike on our dirt road. I stayed outside most of the spring and summer. I love the outdoors, listening to birds, and viewing the mountains.
